According to Barry Smith's research the "Three Horse Shoes" only had that name to around 1839 and also that at one time it was also called the "Rose Inn". He says that some time previous to 1839 it changed name to the well-known pub we know today, called the "Bull". However, I have found the "Bull" in Pigot's directory in 1823 in Buckland, so I believe to have predated his original research.
