HEALTH EDUCATION.

The essential features are the promotion of quality of life and the physical, social and mental well-being of the individual. It involves information about what is good and what is harmful and also the development of skills which will help individuals to use their knowledge effectively.

Healthy living is a crucial issue for everyone. We probably consider our health the most important commodity; loss of our health affects everything we do. Individuals can do much to lessen potential risks and to improve the quality of their lives and environment.

The Health Curriculum is taught across most subject areas because the nature of the work touches upon such a wide range of issues. In the Middle School the Health Education is taught as an integral part of the PSHE programme. The various components that are covered include: drug education, sex education, family life, safety, food and nutrition, health-related exercise, personal hygiene, environmental and psychological aspects.

All of these issues are discussed at various stages but the nature of the work depends on the level of understanding and maturity of the students concerned.
