SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS.
|
As a selective school the number of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is limited to a few who have a specific difficulty whilst otherwise being academically able. The School SEN policy is reviewed annually by the Governing Board, and so is also the Governors’ own policy. There have been no changes during the past year other than those designed to keep the policy in line with the new SEN Code of Practice. For those in the School with recognised SEN of any description, a full SEN policy is followed which is in line with national legislation. It includes regular School-based Reviews (SBR) where outside agencies (such as the Educational Psychology service) participate and annual reviews of those pupils with Statements of SEN. The SEN co-ordinator (SENCO) works closely with the Heads of Key Stage (HoKs), Form Teachers and other staff as necessary. For those who have particular weaknesses in either English or Mathematics, extra support is arranged following consultation with the subject teacher, subject leader and parents. |
