Head's extended contract
THE governors of Dover
Grammar School for Boys have extended their contract with Neil Slater, the
school's head teacher, until at least August 1993.
The move follows close on the heels of the appointment last
week of Dr Roger Thurling as head teacher of Dover Grammar School for Girls. He
takes up his new post in September.
Mr Slater, who joined the boys' school in January 1970, was
appointed deputy head in September 1979 and became acting head two years ago
following the retirement of Reg Colman.
The governors of the two schools have agreed to an
amalgamation of the schools on a green field site at Whitfield. But that
proposal depends very much on the make-up of the future government, following
yesterday's general election.
