School governors against new plan
FOLLOWING the report in your paper last week concerning the Education
Authority's plans to merge the two grammar schools on the Castlemount site. I am
writing to explain the views of the governors of Dover Grammar School for Boys.
They have consistently expressed their agreement to a merger
with the girls' school and will examine carefully any new proposals which come
forward. However, they do not consider the current proposals are satisfactory.
The LEA arc at present revising the proposals and have agreed to consult the
governing bodies of both schools before the start of the public consultations.
No doubt both governing bodies will then make public their views on these
proposals.
Whatever the outcome, the school has confidence it can
continue to deliver an excellent education for which it has, over the years,
earned a well deserved reputation.
John Barnes,
Chairman of Governors,
Dover Grammar School for Boys.
