Old boys are getting it together

INVITATIONS are being sent out around the world for a reunion of former Dover Grammar School for Boys' pupils. The get together will be for those who started there in September, 1969 and are now aged 39 or 40.

Informal

It will be an informal buffet evening in the Dover Rugby Club, Crabble, on Saturday, March 28. Guest are reminded to bring newspaper cuttings and photos of life at the school in that era.

One organiser is Ian Blaskett, of 45 Manor Road, Dover, who with others has sent invitations locally, around the country and abroad.

Ian, who works for Stena Line at Dover Eastern Dock, said about 100 ex-pupils would be eligible and anyone interested can write to him or ring (01304) 225903.

He began contacting people after the reunion was suggested by another pupil of that year, Cliff Woolnough, of Cheriton.

They are being helped by Paul Reeves, of Newlands, Whitfield - all three work for Stena Line at Dover Eastern Dock.

'Big four 0'

Ian said: "We got chatting about the big 'four 0' birthday coming up and it all snowballed from there.

It should be a great night - if we can get more than 50 there we'll be really pleased."

Among those possibly joining the party are former Kent cricketer Derek Aslett, in Australia and former international sailor Dick Smither, in the USA.
