Adventures on the riverbank

MOLE, Badger, Rat and all the animals of the Riverbank are inviting everyone to join their capers in a spectacular production of Wind in the Willows at the Dover Boys' Grammar School next week.

The play is being staged from Thursday to Saturday inclusive, starting 7.15pm.

It is an ambitious production with a cast of 28 including girls from the Dover Girls' Grammar School.

The play, by Alan Bennett, is adapted from the book by Kenneth Grahame. Toad is being played by 12-year-old Noel D'Arcy, with Edward Smith as Rat and James Garlick as Mole.

The boy who was to have played Badger was taken ill. Robert Oliver, 14, from Deal, was called in with only a couple of weeks left to learn the part.

MR TOAD:

Noel D'Arcy plays the lead role.

The play is being directed by drama and English teacher Lynne Watson.

Toad's splendid caravan has been built by the school's technology department. The animal masks have been made by the art department.
