Investing in the future
A-LEVEL and GCSE passes are not the only evidence that Dover Grammar School for Boys is investing in the future.
For 18 months the school's head, Neil Slater, and senior teacher, Giles Falconer, have been working with staff to demonstrate that exacting standards in professional development are also being met.
As a result the school has been recognised as an Investor in People an award that recognises commitment to staff. . .
Mr Slater said: "The award is aimed at all kinds of organisations, from the very big to those with just 50 staff.
You have to have systems in place to develop staff careers in a way that adds to the fulfilment of the organisation. To keep pace with change and maintain continuous improvement, all the staff needed to be constantly updating their skills and the award proved the school's 60-strong workforce were doing that, he added.
