Busy week for old boy

JUST days before he is due to become president of Dover Grammar School's old boys' association, Phil Janaway presented the prizes at the school's guest evening on Friday.

Mr Janaway is due to be elected president of the Old Pharosians on Saturday. He will succeed the Rev John Philpott, Vicar of Whitfield.

The guest evening included musical items by some of the pupils.

Prizewinners: Whitehouse memorial prize for RE, James Kearns; Robert Michael Brown prize for RAF Cadets, Micky Islam; Old boys' Cadet prize, Ryan Parmenter; Jubilee prize for endeavour, Michael Quinn.
Staff prize, Jonathan Brenton; Headmaster's prize, Michael Roberts; Town Mayor of Dover's prize, Michael Crebbin; lan Wallace Bird Cup for outstanding service to school sport, David Edwards.

John Tomlinson memorial prize for maths and the Pfizer prize for physics, Mark Gabriel; Pfizer prize for maths, Michael Roberts; Hubert Hopkins prize for physics and the Pfizer prizes for chemistry and biology, Steven Scott.

John Talbot prize for practical computing, Paul McMullan; A E Coulson memorial prize for computing and the mathematics prize, Mark Callanan; French.

Stephen Bannister; economics, Andrew Barnes; Clatworthy prize for classics, Tom Auld.
