A PUPIL at Dover Grammar
School for Boys has won a design competition run by the local authority.
Young artist Aaron Abbot's winning image will be used to
promote the district council's new kerb side collection recycling scheme, which
will enable households to divide their rubbish into specially provided boxes,
separating paper, glass and cans, which will then by taken away for recycling.
Councillors have agreed to introduce the collections in the
first 4,500 properties in July. By the end of 2006 it is hoped that around 80
per cent of the district's households will be serviced.
Cllr Marian Munt, cabinet member for environment and public
protection, said: "We were delighted by the enthusiasm and standard of work from
the students.
"The kerbside collection scheme represents an important move
for the district and underlines the council's commitment to protecting the
environment."
