Schools to take part in festival
THREE schools in Dover will be taking part in workshops during the Festival for Schools this summer.
Kent County Council says that this year's festival is likely to be the most popular. More than 14,000 children across Kent have signed up for the activities.
More than 300 workshops have been booked for schools. The event is organised by KCC and is sponsored by Mid Kent Water.
Vale View Primary School pupils will be taking part in the workshop George and the Dragon, while pupils from The Powell School will be having three workshops, imaginary journeys through stories and music, cross-curricular teaching of African visual arts and creating with textiles, paint and stitch.
The Dover Boys' Grammar School will be taking part in the cross-curricular teaching of African visual arts.
"The festival provides a fun way of learning for Kent's schoolchildren," said KCC's cabinet member for education standards Paul Carter.
"The continued popularity of the festival proves that teachers consider the workshops worthwhile, too."
