3rd in the world
DOVER Grammar School head boy Nick Hayward has come third in the world with a science project which he researched and developed while on a five-week placement with Pfizer.
Nick, 18, who lives in Kingsdown, couldn't believe it when his name was read out at the grand awards ceremony at Louisville, Kentucky, in America at the weekend.
He was presented with a rosette and 1,000 US dollars (about £700) after judges voted his project into third place in the chemistry category at the 53rd international Science and Engineering Fair.
There were nearly 100 entries in the category, and the fair attracted more than 1,000 projects.
Nick's project was a revolutionary method for one of the steps of drug development from raw material to drug substance.
