Organ works kick off new concert series
A RECITAL this weekend by Richard Davies, director of music at Dover Grammar School for Boys, starts a series of Saturday evening performances at St Clement's Church, Sandwich.
Richard will play a wide range of works for the organ, including the Toccata, Adagio and Fugue by J S Bach and the Suite Gothique by Leon Boellmann as well as works by Franck, Reger, Wesley and Vierne.
He studied music at Durham University and as a post graduate at the Royal Academy of Music.
Richard later combined a number of school and church appointments in the north of England before moving to Dover in 1992.
Admission to recitals, which start at 7.30pm, is £5 (£4 concessions) by programme on the door, or in advance from St Clement's Churct organist Paul Baldock, on 0958 717769.
Forthcoming recitals include Nigel Allcoat on June 27, Paul Stubbings, organist and master of music at St Martin-in-the-Fields, London, on July 25, and Scott Farrell, assistant organist at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds, on September 19.
