High-Flying max Hayward.
A HIGH-flying old pupil of Dover Grammar School for Boys has
passed out as an RAF flight Officer.
Max Hayward, 22; of Upper Street, Kingsdown, left RAF College Cranwell on Thursday October 2 as part of a spectacular graduation parade which included a fly past by two Jaguar and two Harrier GR7 jets.
After a short leave, his next posting will take him to Wattisham, where he will be holding officer for the 22 Squadron, and will take part in search and rescue operations with the Sea King helicopters.
Early next year he will be heading to RAF Shawbury to begin a 48-week course to train as a helicopter pilot.
Max always knew his future was in the skies, saying, "I always wanted to be a pilot and the RAF seemed to be a good choice."
His involvement with the organisation began early, joining the Combined Cadet Force while still at school and rising to the rank of contingent senior cadet.
Pleased mum Julia was rightfully proud of her son's achievements saying, "We're absolutely thrilled."
