Stephen Yarrow, A New Choir.

A NEW choir, the Pharos Chamber Choir, makes its debut on Saturday evening at 7.30pm at the church of St Mary-theVirgin, Dover. Admission is free.

Stephen Yarrow, owner of Dover-based Forwoods Music and a former musical director of Dover Operatic and Dramatic Society, has recruited the choir from other groups in the town.

He says: "I am often asked by organisers and fundraisers to provide music for functions.

Part of our founding ethos is to make ourselves available for this type of work.

"We would be delighted to welcome representatives of local organisations to this our inaugural concert so they can hear at first hand the quality of our choir.

"We have decided on free admission because being our first concert this is, by definition, a promotional event." Jean Pearson will be singing film music by Patrick Doyle as well as a selection of French songs.

Mr Yarrow, an old boy of Dover Grammar School, is director of music at St Marys.
