New head for boys' grammar
DOVER grammar school for boys has announced the appointment of its new head teacher - due to take up her post from September this year.
Parents were informed that Sally Lees - currently deputy head teacher of the Maidstone grammar school for boys - had won the post in a governor's letter sent home last week.
The appointment follows the news that current head Julia Bell - who also will leave her headship at the girls' grammar in the summer - had decided to resign.
Mrs Bell - who took over the running of both schools last year - wrote in the boys' school newsletter that she felt the two sites needed two separate heads before resigning from both positions after securing a job in the Medway area.
Mrs Lees - who has been in the post at Maidstone for many years - was thrilled with her new role. She said:, "I am delighted to have been appointed to the headship of Dover grammar school for boys. I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to lead the school into the next phase of its development. I have worked with boys for many years and I appreciate their many qualities.
