Chance of triple cup triumph

DOVER Grammar School's football teams have reached two Kent Cup finals and have another semi-final still to play.

The under-15 team, which includes two Kent and seven district players, play their final at Dover Athletics' ground on March 31. Kick off is at 7.30pm, with admission £3 for adults and £1.50 for under-18s.

Dover won their quarter-final 6-1 against Borden Grammar School, from Sittingbourne, and beat Valley Park 4-0 in the semi-final. They will play St George's, from Gravesend, in the final.

The school's first team are through to play either Harvey Grammar School or Kelsey Park.

They previously beat Tunbridge Wells Grammar School in the semis 3-1.

The under-14s reached the semi-final of the Kent Cup and the last 32 of the Under-14 English Schools Trophy.

The under-16 team are one game from a final. They will be playing their semi-final against Harvey Grammar School tomorrow (Friday).

Dover beat Kemnal Technology School in the semi-final after a thrilling penalty shootout 7-6. Kemnal won the cup last year.

Dover has excelled in other sports, dominating the cross-country season by winning the under-15 and under-17 South East Kent School Championships, as well as the under-12, under-13 and under-14 district leagues.

In rugby, Dover have already reached the under-16 and under-14 East Kent finals.

Next term the school will try to retain the Kent athletics under-15 Schools Cup, which they won last summer in thrilling fashion by beating the hot favourites Judd School, from Tonbridge.
