Student challenge

Coastline Bistro.

Members: Liam Knox, Bradley Clements, Ross McHugh, Alex Dudfield, Ben Robinson and Chris Neilson.

Idea: A sea front bistro which also sells beach goods. Team members said it would be part of the “regeneration of Dover.”
Ross said: “It was good to do. We’ve all worked quite hard and looked at how we would get bank loans. It makes business more interesting and brings it alive.”

 

Easy Shoppers

Members: Elliot Bullock, Toby Fuller, Lawrence Cox, James Golding and Finley Burrows.

Idea: A series of boxes to slot into a shopping trolley, fill with goods and then take straight out, so no plastic bags. The boxes will be reusable and flat-packed. They aim to sell to supermarkets who would resell to customers.

Toby said: “ It is environmentally friendly and 100 per cent recyclable.”

 

Blobfish

Members: Connor Broomfield, Liam Milroy, Luke Matcham, Conan Osborne, Luca Pasquino and Brad Kirkham.

Idea: Open an airsoft shop with equipment such as pellets and guns.

Luke said: “It is basically paintballing without the paint. We would sell equipment like the six millimetre ball bearings. It can be done it lots of places and we would sell equipment to people when they hire the space.”

 

Vigilanza Watches

Members: Owen Sudbury, Matthew Chant, James Tapley, Sean Sutton, Faisal Jafri and Michael Richards.

Idea: The team designed a watch with features including Sat-Nav, a mobile phone and MP4 player.

Models would include one with larger buttons for older or disabled people.

James said: “It took us about three weeks to come up with the idea. It was good fun.”

 

Revive

Members: Alex Henley, David McCafferty, David McKweon, Ross Smith, Ben Bancroft and Joshua Watkins.

Idea: To build a multi-functional sports centre, with activities like bowling, cinema and mini golf on a school premises using Building Schools for the Future government cash.

Ben said: “There are no activities for young people in Dover and this increases criminal activities on the streets. There is a huge need for something like this.”

 

WHJ Music

Members: Alex Warren, Robert Howell, Hamish Jerden.

Idea: To set up a music shop in Dover but also work with primary schools and provide space and instruments for music lessons and, possibly, a recording studio.

Robert said: “We were looking at a grant under the Government’s bringing music into schools scheme. We did questionnaires to see if people would be interested in it and how important they think music is to school kids.”
