Glory for green group in district final

ENVIRONMENTAL campaigners from Dover Grammar School for Boys scooped the top prize in the Dover district Young Enterprise competition final.
The Green Footprint Group (GFG) were the overall winners and were awarded the Dover Area Shield, Dover Harbour Board sponsored winning trophy and a cheque for £500. It also won the award for best written report and best presentation.
The Girls’ Grammar School company Passion won the award for best trade stand.
GFG will now go on to represent the district at the county final and the chance to compete at national level.
A packed audience of students, parents, teachers, local business representatives, and Dover Harbour Board’s business advisers attended the final at The Ark Centre in Dover.
It was described as “a wonderful celebration of the young business and enterprise talent which is being nurtured in the district”.
Having produced detailed written reports and eye-catching trade stands displaying the products and services each group had developed, the different student companies then gave a presentation on what had been learnt and achieved.
The judges were Ande Case, Young Enterprise Dover Area Board; Tim Waggott, Dover Harbour Board, and Dorothy Thom, East Kent Enterprise Gateway.

Goldfield, chief executive of Dover Harbour Board.
