DOVER Grammar School for Boys student Jack Williams is through to the finals of a national award scheme which aims to show that young people can make positive changes to society.

Jack, 16, has been named as a finalist in the performance category of the Deutsche Bank CHANGEit awards.

He founded the Green Footprint Group, which consists of students from six local schools and focuses on taking steps to get each school to
go green.

Jack and the members of the GFG hosted an Eco Business day for more than 90 representatives from local businesses and a primary school day for more than 80 year five pupils.

Jack has since taken his campaign to 10 Downing Street where he has an e-petition to provide more funds for schools to go green.

The award winners were due to be announced yesterday (Wednesday) at a ceremony in London.
