The evening at Pfizer Sports and Social Club was in two parts for primary and secondary school award winners.

Displays were given by Team Wreckless bike display team, Shatterlocks Infant School Dance Squad, Britain’s Got Talent star Kieran Gaffney, and Paralympic rower James Morgan.

The evening also marked the fifth year of the partnership’s existence with an opening DVD highlighting the breadth of its work.

Elaine Head, partnership development manager, said in her opening speech: “In this period of economic instability, there is uncertainty over the future of the school sport partnership. We hope the government can see the value of what we have achieved and continue funding the scheme.”

Categories at the highly successful evening included: Team of the year, achievement in the face of adversity, commitment to sport, sports leader of the year and individual excellence.

Thanks were given to all those who attended and have supported the partnership.
