28 February 2011

I heard a few days ago that Don Page (former Chemistry teacher at Dover GS) had passed away.

Nick Stevens

The message received from Phil Harding say the following:-

Have just received the sad news that Don Page died on Tuesday 22nd February. He was in 5L at the Harvey and we both went into the 6th form to study chemistry. He continued his chemistry studies at Hull University before taking up a career in teaching at Dover Grammar School.
He lived with his wife Joyce at Cheriton, Folkestone.
His funeral will be at Barham Crematorium on Thursday 10th March at 11.20a.m.

Apparently his death was quite sudden. I believe he suffered an aneurism and was taken to hospital in London where he died a couple of days later.

19 January 2011

I have just been sent the sad news from Don Page that Isobella Smith sadly died a few days ago, aged 85. She was the Chemistry and Biology Technician for the school in the 1970s and 80s.

IMPORTANT: 30 Oct 2010. Due to a massive computer crash any member who has sent me information regarding change of address or indeed any email during October, can you please forward that information to me again please, as it has unfortunately been lost. That includes any changes of address.

Paul Skelton.

I'm trying to locate the Clare brothers who were variously at Dover Grammar School between 1962-71. I believe that the two older brothers were previously at Farnborough Grammar School before moving to Dover in 1962. I too was at Farnborough (1957-65), and am keen to establish contact with John, the eldest of the brothers. I would be very grateful if anyone could confirm my information, and can put me in touch with any of the brothers.

Best regards,
Phil Fouracre
