HOMEWORK 4

JUNIOR HACKSAW MANUFACTURING DETAIL 1

FRAME

On the next few sheets you are to DETAIL the individual parts that you are going to make to complete your hacksaw. The first and easiest part to make will be the hacksaw frame. It will be manufactured out of Diameter 8mm Mild Steel and will be threaded at one end M8mm by 25 mm long. This will allow it to be screwed into the aluminium alloy cast handle and secured in place with an 8mm steel locknut (supplied).

You are to use A3 paper (supplied), and this paper is to have a fancy border in colour of your chosen design no greater than 20 mm.

In the bottom right hand corner you should construct a box 20mm high and as long as is necessary to print your full name in capital letters, central both horizontal and vertical, exactly 16 mm high.

The top of the page should show the TITLE “JUNIOR HACKSAW FRAME DETAIL”, as colourful and large as you like.

The frame MUST be drawn somewhere on the page in FULL size and as accurate as you can make it, including any angles the frame may be finally bent into.

In the bottom left hand corner of the page you are to produce a cutting list of this one item. The numbering of this item should correspond to your last homework; “Hacksaw Layout”.

Also on the page you are to draw and detail step by step manufacturing instructions needed to complete this part of the hacksaw. The lesson prior to this homework will run through what is required as a theory lesson. You may NOT continue with your practical work until this homework detail is complete. Or subsequent pieces until these details have been completed. The next few homework lessons will detail each individual piece you are to make in the practical lessons.
