HOMEWORK 6
JUNIOR HACKSAW MANUFACTURING DETAIL
Machining of aluminium handle
You are to use A3 paper (supplied), and this paper is to have a fancy border in colour of your chosen design no greater than 20 mm.
In the bottom right hand corner you should construct a box 20mm high and as long as is necessary to print your full name in capital letters, central both horizontal and vertical, exactly 16 mm high.
The top of the page should show the TITLE “MACHINING OF ALUMINIUM HANDLE”, as colourful and large as you like.
Following the lesson demonstration and handouts on the tapping of threads you are to draw up a running board showing the various processes needed from the casting of the aluminium handle to its readiness for your chosen finishing process. Different finishes will include plastic dip coating or painting, but will not be required at this stage.
The running board diagrams should include pictures and the tools use need to do the following.
1. Cutting off the runners and risers and fettling the casting.
2. Marking out the handle for the connection of the frame and blade.
3. Setting up of handle on an angle plate for drilling.
4. The correct size of drills and depths of each hole. (These may be different from the demonstration, depending on your design).
5. The tapping of the holes, including the names of the tools used and depth of threads.
