SIMPLE DESIGN PROJECTS
BORDERS.
Using A3 paper, you will need a simple border 15mm from the edge of the paper using straight lines and an HB and your full name in a box in the bottom right hand corner in capital letters. The box being 20mm high. Your name using 14mm letters.
This project is to encourage you to use fancy designs for future borders around the edge of further design projects.
In the centre of the page, just under the top margin, you will need another box, also 20mm high. This will contain the title of the page, also using capital letters 14mm high. The title being, “BORDERS”.
In the space left, you are to construct 6 identical oblongs, exactly 110mm long by 100mm high. These will be the boundaries of you folio design borders. Please number each of these, from 1 to 6 in the centre of each.
Border 1 is to have the theme “Earth” and this title should also be incorporated in the centre of that border in neat capital letters. You are to produce a border, using your imagination that would suggest the theme. I.e. it could be an earth colour scheme, showing pictures from space of the earth, etc. The border should not be wider than 20mm from the drawn perimeter.
Border 2 is to have the theme “AIR”. Again place that title inside the border. This border, again using your imagination, is designed using the theme air. I.e. perhaps being light in colour, having an aviation theme, or indeed be a view of something from the air, etc.
Border 3 is to have the theme “Fire”. The same as above applies.
Border 4 is to have the theme “Water”.
Border 5 you may chose your own theme, but this MUST be of your chosen colour. I.e. Orange, Blue, Pink. Any interpretation will do.
Border 6, is your choice completely, i.e. Nature, Space, Robots, Bridges, Absolutely anything goes, but you must state the theme as the title inside that border.
After your homework has been handed in, and in the following lesson, each of you will be asked to mark each others work. ALL A3 folios will be displayed in the class, and each of you will be asked to give a mark out of 10 for every design. All these marks will then be collated and a final mark shown as an average percentage will be awarded to each pupil.
