DESIGN PROJECT Q

Infant School Letter Learning Scheme.

An infant’s school are teaching their pupils how to read with the aid of letter charts from A to Z. The charts are rather expensive and to keep costs down have asked Dover Grammar School for Boys to design a set of charts they can use for their pupils.

Each of you will be given a letter of the alphabet, chosen randomly, in which to produce your chart.

Using A3 paper, you will need a border, your name in the bottom right hand corner and the following design criteria:-

You will first need to draw a line to produce a rectangle 50mm wide by the length of the page at the top of the page just below your border. Next, underneath this rectangle divide your page into two equal halves by dropping a perpendicular line to the bottom of the page.

The left hand portion must contain your allocated letter as large as you can make it. Hand drawn in three dimensions in full colour and shaded to stand out of the page.

The rectangular top portion of the page must contain a sentence similar to the following. “A is for APPLE” (Please substitute “A” for your allocated letter, plus a word that “A” could be used for.) The chosen letter MUST be a Capital letter, “is for” MUST be lower case, and the chosen word MUST be CAPITALS, all colourful and very neat.

The right hand portion of the page must show a graphical representation of the chosen word.

ALL lettering MUST be hand drawn, but computer graphics can be used for the graphical representation, if you like.
