DESIGN PROJECT “U”
Monopoly for your local town
The title of this project is MONOPOLY ??????? (The ??????? to be replaced with your chosen town). The title this time must appear in the exact centre of the page within your board design.
Your name should also appear just underneath the title.
You are to produce a full coloured border on the A3 paper no greater than 20mm from the edge with the theme of Monopoly.
The original streets etc. on
the game boards of the sets manufactured by or on behalf of Waddington (and
later of Hasbro) are of London. They appear from Go in the bottom right hand
corner and are listed in a clockwise order as follows.
GO, Old Kent Road, Community Chest, Whitechapel Road, Income tax pay £200, King
Cross Station, The Angel Islington, Chance, Euston Road, Pentonville Road,
JAIL/Just visiting, Pall Mall, Electric Company, Whitehall, Northumberland
Avenue, Marylebone Station, Bow Street, Community Chest, Marlborough Street,
Vine Street, Free Parking, The Strand, Chance, Fleet Street, Trafalgar Square,
Fenchurch St. Station, Leicester Square, Coventry Street, Water Works,
Piccadilly, Go to Jail, Regent Street, Oxford Street, Community Chest, Bond
Street, Liverpool St. Station, Chance, Park Lane, Super Tax pay £100 and
Mayfair.
Your task is to design a brand new board along the lines of the original design, but using streets and roads from your local town. You are not to use train stations, but will need to come up with an alternative local to your area, and the Electricity company and waterworks are to be replaced with local industries of your choice.
On A3 paper, you are to construct a square as large as you can that will fit within the border, not touching it. The streets etc. are to be set out the same as the traditional board and in reasonable proportions. Community Chest and Chance remain the same as do Tax and Jail etc. The colours of the streets are to be the same as the original.
You will be marked on the following criteria:-
Fancy border of A3 paper. 10 marks
Title and your name, based on neatness and colour. 10 marks.
Accuracy in marking out the playing grid. 40 marks
Neatness of lettering. 20 marks
Correct layout. 10 marks
Correct colours. 10 marks.
